GCSE Results Day 2026

We are celebrating another impressive set of GCSE results, with students achieving excellent grades across a broad range of academic, creative and practical subjects.

This year, 26% of all GCSE grades awarded were 9s or 8s, the highest possible grades, while 44% were at grades 9 – 7, equivalent to an A or higher under the old grading system.

The results reflect the hard work and commitment of students, alongside the breadth and strength of teaching across the curriculum. Students have achieved particularly strong outcomes across a wide range of disciplines from the creative arts and humanities in addition to the core academic subjects.

Exceptional Individual Achievements

Among this year's highest achievers is Harriet, who achieved an impressive 12 GCSEs at grades 9 and 8. Her subjects included extra GCSEs in Ancient Greek and Astronomy which were studied in addition to the usual timetable.

Poppy achieved 11 GCSEs, all 9s and 8s, while Claudia achieved 10 GCSEs, all 9s and 8s.

These results provide a snapshot of the many outstanding individual achievements across our school and reflect the ambition, dedication, and hard work of Kent College students.

Strength across the curriculum

Kent College students have continued to perform particularly strongly in creative subjects. In Art and Music, almost 60% of grades were 9 or 8, with 71% at grades 9 – 7. In Textiles, 83% of grades were at 9 – 7, including 25% at grades 9 or 8.

Food Preparation and Nutrition achieved particularly impressive results, with 88% of grades at 9 or 8 and 94% at grades 9 – 7.

In Geography, 44% of grades were at 9 or 8 and 78% at 9 – 7, while History saw 57% of grades at 9 or 8 and 86% at 9 – 7. Latin also performed strongly, with 60% of grades at 9 or 8 and 80% at 9 – 7.

In English Language and Literature, more than half of all grades were at 9 – 7, while almost 40% of Mathematics grades were at 9 – 7.

Outstanding value added achievement

The GCSE results also demonstrate the significant progress students have made during their time at Kent College Pembury. Almost a quarter of the year group achieved an average of at least 1.5 grades higher than their nationally standardised predictions, highlighting the impact of the school’s academic support, teaching and individual approach to learning.

One student achieved an exceptional four grades higher than their nationally standardised predictions across all of their subjects, while a number of students achieved particularly impressive value added scores of more than two grades above their predictions.

These results are a strong indication of the progress students make at Kent College, with many achieving significantly beyond what their initial nationally standardised predictions would suggest. They reflect the school’s commitment to understanding each student as an individual and providing the support, challenge and opportunities they need to fulfil their academic potential.

Katrina Handford, Head of Kent College Pembury, said:

“We are incredibly proud of this year's GCSE students and the results they have achieved. Behind every grade is a great deal of hard work, determination and commitment, and it has been wonderful to see students achieve such strong results across such a broad range of subjects.

“What particularly stands out is the breadth of achievement, from the very highest grades in our academic subjects to the excellent results in creative and performing arts subjects.

“We look forward to seeing our students take their next steps into Sixth Form and know they will achieve highly on their chosen courses and beyond.”
