Sweeney Todd is coming to Kent College

Kent College is delighted to announce that Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd will take place from Tuesday 15th to Saturday 19th March 2022.

This musical theatre production will involve students from Year 6 in the Prep School up to the Sixth Form and will be a collaboration with many different parts of the school. As well as the Drama department, Music and Dance students will be performing, while Textiles and Art students will be creating the costumes and set design. Our students are also an integral part of the behind-the-stage crew, managing the lighting, sound and all other technical elements. We will also be casting actors from our partnership schools in some of the male roles.

Sweeney Todd, otherwise known as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, is the grisly tale of an East London barber turned serial killer, who murdered his unsuspecting customers before disposing of their bodies in his lover's meat pies. It has been retold over the years by hundreds of theatre companies and many schools choose to produce an edited version. However, Kent College will be performing the full score. We can't wait to bring this gruesome story to life!
