Reflections from Miss Handford
As we begin a new academic year, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our pupils, families and staff. It has been wonderful to see the school come alive once again this week as our community returns, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Our theme for the week is Return. While returning to school marks the end of the summer break, it is also much more than that. It is an opportunity for a fresh start, to establish positive habits, to set new goals and to think about who we want to become. As we reminded our pupils in assembly this week, small steps taken consistently lead to great outcomes, and a strong start upon our return to school sets the direction for the journey ahead.
This term, we are particularly delighted to welcome all the new students who have joined our school community and I know that KC will support them to settle in quickly. We are especially pleased to welcome boys into the Senior School and Sixth Form for the very first time. This is an exciting and historic moment in the school's development, and we are thrilled to see these students already becoming an integral part of school life.
Many families will also be aware that this term marks the school's transition to the Alpha Schools Group. While this represents an important new chapter for the school, I want to emphasise to our community that, for pupils and families, it is very much business as usual. This is a change in ownership and governance, but our day to day priorities remain exactly the same. We will continue to focus on providing an outstanding education, unlocking the potential of every student and supporting each young person to achieve their very best.
One of the reasons we are excited about joining Alpha is because of its commitment to preserving the unique identity of each school within the group. Our ethos, values, traditions and strong sense of community will remain at the heart of everything we do. The excellent education, pastoral care and school routines that families know and value will continue unchanged. At the same time, becoming part of Alpha brings the benefit of wider expertise, collaboration, long-term investment and the support of a family of schools, strengthening our ability to provide the very best opportunities for our students.
As we return to the new school year and embark on this journey, I encourage every member of our community to make the most of the opportunities ahead. Whether joining us for the first time or returning to familiar surroundings, this is a moment to look forward with confidence. We are excited for all that this year will bring and look forward to celebrating our students' achievements and successes in the months ahead.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I wish all our pupils and families a happy, successful and rewarding term.
