Welcome

Kent College welcomes girls from all over the world to be part of our school community where they will receive an outstanding, well-rounded education, experience life at a leading British boarding school, have opportunities to learn about the culture and way of life in the UK and get involved in a wide range of extra curricular activities including Drama productions, Music and Sport.

It is important for students whose first language is not English to feel at home at Kent College and fully benefit from their education in the UK. Opened in 2020, our International Study Centre provides dedicated English language support from subject specialist teachers and offers excellent opportunities for students to become confident in speaking and writing English.

EXPERIENCE

Life at Kent College is rich and diverse allowing each individual student to find their own interests inside and outside the classroom. International students make up one fifth of the Senior School so they are able to become immersed in British life and make friends with local day pupils as well as students from around the world. Weekend activities for boarders enable them to explore our beautiful local area and learn about British culture.

EXAMS

International students at Kent College achieve excellent exam results at GCSE and A Level and go on to top universities both in the UK and abroad. At GCSE students achieve at least one grade higher than predicted which puts us in the top 5 schools in the UK for 'Value Added'. International students also achieve exam success in Cambridge English Preliminary, Cambridge English First, Cambridge English Advanced and IGCSE English as a Second Language.

International Study Centre

The International Study Centre (ISC) provides support for the study of English as an Additional Language (EAL). Students are taught in small classes with specialist teachers and develop language skills which allow them to access the British school curriculum. There is excellent pastoral support with all international students integrated into the boarding houses, tutor groups, sports and the full activities programme.

Three learning Pathways are available in the ISC depending on the level of English. Each Pathway enables students to become confident in speaking and writing as they work towards achieving ESOL qualifications. All students who do not speak English as a first language will be enrolled on Pathway 1 as a minimum and those requiring more support will join other Pathways.
