Boarding Houses
Kent College offers a dynamic, forward-looking environment where your daughter will have a secure and happy home.
 At KC, the 'traditional' image of boarding could not be further from reality. Family-run boarding houses provide spacious, comfortable accomodation and there is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in both. Our boarders come from all over the world and we maintain a good balance of British and international girls, in both house and classes.
There is a great sense of community spirit within and between houses, and the girls enjoy being part of an extended family. Birthdays are big occasions celebrated with cakes and candles, and end of term house parties are fun get togethers to bid fond farewells before the holidays. Firm and often lifelong friendships are established. Organised to meet the needs of different age groups, both of the houses provide modern facilities with spacious bedrooms for up to four girls, cosy
common rooms with TV and DVDs, and bathrooms with
private shower units.
Hawkwell & Hargreaves House:
Our youngest boarders, aged 8 to 14, flourish in the cosy atmosphere where they receive the individual care and attention they need. Every effort is made to make the girls feel at home as we appreciate it can be a big step for girls of this age to be away from home. In 2010 the boarding house was decorated and refurbished with new beds and furniture, this refurbishment is maintained throughout the rest of the bedrooms in school holidays so that the facilities are always fresh and modern. The two common rooms provide a haven where the girls can relax and watch their favourite TV programmes together, do their homework, or work on the computer.
James & Osborn Houses:
James and Osborn was purpose built and provides modern and comfortable facilities. The hub of activity could be the common room, kitchens or decking area leading out onto the garden.
In the common room there is a much-used pool table and table football. There are also TV rooms for relaxation, and a computer room for study and emailing. All girls have study bedrooms and we aim to provide all final year A-level students with single rooms. |
