Kent College Pembury

Introduction

"My daughters have received a first class education within a secure, happy and homely environment."
Major K Payant, Armed Forces.

As well as providing an excellent learning environment, Kent College offers a secure and happy home for boarders. At KC, the 'traditional' image of boarding could not be further from reality. Family-run boarding houses provide spacious, comfortable accommodation and there is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in all houses. Our boarders come from all over the world and we maintain a good balance of British and international girls in houses and classes.

Because family circumstances differ and change, we offer flexible boarding options to meet a variety of needs. These include full and weekly boarding as well as overnight and short stay boarding options for day girls.

The girls are fully involved in the running of the houses, developing leadership skills and a sense of responsibility, and Heads of Boarding Houses are elected by the students.

An International Community
At Kent College we welcome international students who are well motivated and keen to learn. Our students come from professional families world wide and go on to study at top universities in the UK and abroad. The KC community embraces the rich cultural diversity of its students and regularly celebrates this with special 'International Days'.

Pastoral Care
The girls are cared for by a team of well-qualified, experienced staff both inside and outside the classroom, who give individual support and guidance. Each house has a resident housemistress whose first priority is the welfare of the girls. She keeps in touch with parents, guardians and academic tutors to oversee the development and well-being of each girl.

Catering
Our award-winning healthy and international cuisine caters for all tastes and needs including vegetarians and those on special diets. The only difficulty is deciding what to choose! The main dining hall provides cooked breakfasts and a wide choice of hot and cold dishes with a salad bar at lunchtimes and in the evenings. In house breakfasts are a regular weekend treat.

Parental Contact
All boarders need regular contact with home, and girls are encouraged to contact their parents by telephone, letters, fax and email.

Medical Provision
The school has a full-time Nursing Sister who takes care of the medical needs of all boarding students, including dental treatment, eye testing and illness whilst at school.

Guardians
All parents based overseas need a guardian in the UK for their daughter. The guardian acts in loco-parentis in emergencies and will be responsible for care and accommodation during the holidays and exeats whilst your daughter is in the UK.

Location and Travel
The school is ideally located in the south-east of England which had good communication networks. London is just 40 minutes away by train, Gatwick and Heathrow international airports are less than an hour away, and seaports and the Channel Tunnel are within easy access.
