Information Technology
IT
is an integral part of learning at KC and students have access to
over 100 computers which are networked around the school in classrooms,
the library, Sixth Form Centre and boarding houses. Each student
has her own email address and space on the network where she can
store files. All the computers are networked providing Broadband
Internet access and CD-ROMs. All computers have Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) plus curriculum software and
typing packages. The Music Department use their computers for composition.
Years 7, 8 & 9 - all students
have IT lessons as well as using IT across the curriculum. In Year
9 students achieve external computing certificates awarded by NICAS
(National Inter Action Award Scheme) in a range of Microsoft applications.
Students have the option to continue
IT during Years 10 and 11 when they work towards achieving a GCSE
in Business and Communications Systems.
